Invest In The Future

Invest in the Future of Texas Southern University

At Texas Southern University, we believe in the power of philanthropy to transform lives. By establishing an endowment or a current use agreement, you create opportunities for students, faculty, and programs that define TSU’s legacy.

What is the Difference Between an Endowment and a Current Use Agreement?

Endowment:
An endowment is a long-term investment in the university’s future. The principal gift is invested, and a portion of the earnings is used annually to support scholarships, faculty chairs, academic programs, or other university priorities that you as the donor can designate. Your endowment gift is an investment that ensures your impact lasts in perpetuity.

  • Minimum Gift: $25,000
  • Payment Plan: Up to 5 years
  • Endowment OCR Match:  If funds are available you can double your impact!
  • How It Works: Your gift is invested within TSU’s endowment portfolio, and once it reaches maturity, a percentage of the earnings is distributed according to the agreement’s purpose.

Current Use Gift Agreement:
A current use agreement provides immediate support to students, faculty, or programs. Unlike an endowment, these funds are not invested but are distributed fully within a designated time frame to meet immediate or short-term needs.

  • Minimum Gift: $5,000
  • One-time Payment: options to add  additional/reoccurring funding
  • No match available
  • How It Works: Your full contribution is made available for use based on the donor’s intent and the university’s needs.

What Can My Gift Support?

Both endowments and current use agreements can be named in an honor of your choosing and can be designated to support a variety of areas at Texas Southern University, including:

  • Scholarships & Student Support – Help students achieve their educational goals by providing financial assistance.
  • Faculty Excellence – Support research, professional development, and academic leadership.
  • Academic Programs – Strengthen specific schools, departments, or initiatives at TSU.
  • Athletics & Extracurriculars – Enhance student experiences beyond the classroom.
  • Other University Priorities – Work with our team to identify an area that aligns with your philanthropic vision.

  • Define the Purpose – Decide how you want your funds to be used, whether for scholarships, faculty, or another area.
