Alvin Holmes Wardlaw and his time on earth resulted in a distinctive impact on thousands of lives through his deployment in the military, his matriculation at both Morehouse and Atlanta universities, and as a man of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. His 66-year tenure in administration and in the classroom at Texas Southern University (TSU) remains unparalleled. His wondrous legacy includes his family, now headed by daughters, Alvia and Joy. Many of us in the TSU community remember his quick wit, smile, patience, unwavering integrity and acts of giving that made life easier for others.

Friends of the Wardlaw family have established the Alvin H. Wardlaw Memorial Fund to ensure that his life’s work carries forward to support TSU. The Fund is intended for scholarship distribution and the family will determine dedicated criteria once the fund matures.
